    LED "bump"

What is the small glue like bump on top of an LED? What is their purpose?

Could be more specific with manufacture or part number of the LED? LED's lenses vary for different reasons.

Yes I do believe it is the lens... I have a few that have fallen off but they do still illuminate. Will it burn out?

The LED may short out if, the silcon is exposed.

It is made of a optical grade silicon. I already lost the bubble so I went ahead and put a secondary optic over top of it. It seems to be working fine. If it shorts, ill go ahead and replace it later. Thanks for the input guys!!!
