Thread: My Banggais are spawning!

  1. #1

Thumbs up My Banggais are spawning!

I am thrilled to discover that I have in fact obtained a pair of banggai cardinals, and that they have already started to spawn for me! Yesterday I noticed that the male looked like his mouth was stuffed full, and he refused to eat. I have kept a close eye on him ever since.
This evening he got spooked by my scopas tang, and unfortunately started to spit out the eggs. Now I am trying to gather as much info. as I can so that the next time they spawn I will be better prepared to meet their needs!
If anyone knows a way to avoid having the male spit out the eggs, I am all ears! Also, if you know of any great books or articles, I would love to hear your recommendations. Thanks!

Putting them in your sump or a separate tank is your best option to avoid that. mbisite.org is the best site for all the information you might need to breed about anything.

And then planning and making sure to have plenty of food is key

Definitely check out the Marine Breeding Initiative's site - mbisite.org (like Dave said above).
