good thing this was a divers den and not one of those rip off designer name guys who take the same coral and then charge you $75 a head cause they threw name tyree on it or any of the other ones that add a name then triple the price tag.

How does it look in the flesh versus that pic posted?

01-25-2012, 05:14 PM
so far it looks identical in my tank to the pics posted..but I am running a Kessil 15k LED light

this is how it looks in my tank..It was open for a few hours down in my sump with no light. I moved it up to tank and waiting for it to open back up...but the stems are just glowing green.

Looks pretty cool even "as is". Hopefully it will open up soon so you can decide how to portion out. This was a great idea on how to get a few or a bunch of us to have upper end/neat corals in the area at minimum costs.

I already chopped it up..Big Dog got a large frag yesterday and I cut my section off and one for high mark..they are starting to open now not all the way..guess still mad about being hacked up and the purple polyps look really neat.
it was harder to cut up then anticipated and didnt get as many frags as I thought..do to how tightly packed some of the heads are together so I didnt want to cut into those and destroy some of the heads.

All the heads but one on my frag are wide open just not as purple as in the ad. As typical in most tanks the greens are great. Doesn't matter whether there in the frag tank running one Phoenix 14K and 4 -T5 actinics or the other tank with dual Phoenix 14K's - bland purples as of now!

Awesome..mine are still not all teh way open but I guess your frag had less stress on it not being cut up as much. Mine are peaking out so far I had one head come out and the others are peaking. I am running a pretty blue spectrum with this kessil so mine match the LiveAquaria pics.

here is how my frag looks in my tank..the polyps are not fully open but are peaking out.

01-31-2012, 01:13 PM
wow those are awesome looking

01-31-2012, 04:37 PM
All are open but nothing like the picture. Under radium 20k or blue LED's Brownish color.

There has always been a rumor that they enhance the pics a bit. Can u post a pic of them open?

they are pretty close to how the live aquaria pic was in my tank.

I just uploaded a short video on Vimeo of it to show its colors. I will post the video once Vimeo has finished converting

My purple is bland, green is good, best under blue moons but they still don't "pop"

Looking good- I will have to get a frag off one of you when they grow out.
